SSPX websites "anti-semitic": Expose

Published: February 20, 2009

Websites of the Society of St Pius X in several countries openly propagate virulent anti-Semitism, according to an investigation by a Jewish magazine in Belgium.

Research by the Antwerp based "Joods Actueel" weekly magazine has revealed a "slew of anti-Semitic content" on websites of the St Pius X Society in five languages, The European Jewish Press reports.

The research comes to the conclusion that Pius X is "an extreme conservative Catholic group that rejects the Second Vatican Council and propagates the worst kind of anti-Semitism."

For the research the international site of the society was consulted plus a host of national sites including those of the US, Brazil, Ireland, Asia, Austria, South Africa and Poland.

The magazine found the society's US website described Jews as "the enemy of man, whose secret weapon is the leaven of the Pharisees which is hypocrisy," adding that "heads of Jewry have for centuries conspired methodically and out of an undying hatred against the Catholic name."

The South African site said that "Jews have come closer and closer to fulfilling their substitute Messianic drive towards world dominion." The Irish site asks whether "the Jews are guilty of Deicide," answering: "We must say yes."

The site from Germany said that "contemporary Jews are for sure guilty of the murder of God, as long as they don't recognise Christ as God."

The Belgian site accuses Jews of "still believing they are the chosen people" while "awaiting world domination."

Chief editor of Joods Actueel, Michael Freilich said: "This is in many ways worse than the outrageous statements of Bishop Williamson denying the Holocaust and the existence of gas chambers."

"Williamson is a lone fool and not taken serious by the masses, whereas here we are talking about an entire society comprising thousands of priests spreading hatred against the Jewish people to hundreds of thousands around the world."

    Catholics Decry Anti-Christianity in Israel
    Protest "Horrible Offences" on TV

JERUSALEM, FEB. 19, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Leaders of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land are condemning the "revolting attacks" against Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary, broadcast by Israel's Channel 10 television.

A joint communiqué issued Wednesday explains, "In these days, during a night show on Channel 10, a series of horrible offenses were launched against our faith and consequently against us, Christians."

The communiqué was signed by the Latin patriarch of Jerusalem and the Franciscan Custos of the Holy Land, among others.

"The show directed its attacks to the holiest figures of our Christian belief in an attempt, as the director of the show himself specifically declared, to destroy Christianism," the communiqué stated.

"Channel 10 was used to desecrate the holiest figures of Christianism offending hundreds of thousands of Christian Israeli citizens and of many millions of Christians all over the world as well," the Catholic leaders lamented.

Channel 10 began its activities in 2002.

The Catholic leaders contended that the program was "a symptom of greater problems disturbing the society, such as intolerance, refusal to accept and respect the other and inherent hatred."

And they said that the program comes in a series of attacks on Christians in Israel over the years. They cited an occurrence from a few months ago, when "copies of the New Testament were publicly burned in the yard of a synagogue in Or Yehuda."

The statement expressed appreciation for the many Christians, Muslims and Jews who "were themselves shocked and appalled, and expressed their dismay and protest at this fact."

The leaders contended that "such programs have nothing to do with freedom of expression, art and entertainment. They can only work against national integration and harmony in our society."

  2. As much as I love our current pope whose teachings and words on almost all matters of faith and morals are brilliant and welcome --- I cannot understand how the Vatican can ignore such scandal and charges of this against the Pius X Society. If they hold such an uncharitable and excoriating view towards our brother Jews in this world, then they have some serious accountability to answer to. I consider it sinful if what is reported is true and serious soul searching is in order. The Jews have been reviled and persecuted far too much and ever since they were a people. Can't you people get it? No one persecutes the Jew more than Satan. Are we to join in?

  3. If this is true, I am horrified. And, aghast that The Vatican had not thoroughly investigated before lifting the excommunication from this group! MORE to Pray about!

  4. Please do not equate true Christianity or true followers of Christ (a Jew) and one whom we believe is the Messiah, with those who promote anti-semitism in any form. I am outraged with those who proclaim that we all believe that the Jews killed Christ. You cannot kill in the name of God and be a Christian. Our teaching is to turn the other cheek and not to retaliate - to believe in Christ's teachings and example, to love one another as he loves each of us. This 'society' is a sick one run by sick people. That is nothing new in the Church. It is being attacked by satan from within and we are aware of it. We pray for the present Pope's safety and intentions each day. We also pray for the truth of Pius XII's reign and his help in the sheltering of many many Jews and other refugees in WWII to become known. I, who come from a Jewish, Muslim and Christian background, ask forgiveness of anyone hurt by these outrageous views.

  5. "... aghast that The Vatican had not thoroughly investigated before lifting the excommunication from this group ..."

    Truth?

Facts, details and distinctions are always important in arriving at it [the truth].

    PLEASE recall that:

1 The excommunications were for a specific offence - the excommunications were of two bishops (Arbp Lefebvre and the other consecrator) and the four to be consecrated (including Richard Williamson). They all incurred automatic excommunication for proceeding with the consecration of the 4 SSPX bishops in contradiction of an express canonical warning not to do so.

    'the group' was not excommunicated.

2 The lifting of the penalty of that excommunication relates to that specific offence.

While the views of Bp Williamson, whatever their origin or motivation, are reprehnsible, it is outragous to suggest that the excommunication in respect of the episcopal consecrations should be stretched to cover these other views.

    Without any due process?

It is like saying that a suspended driver's licence should not be reinstated because there is an unsubstantiated hearsay in relation to some other alleged crime.

If such things happened in civil law I should be distraught.

And with all these calls for THESE excommunications to stand, I wonder if such calls might not extend to the numerous clergy, religious and (high profile) layfolk who openly flaunt and trample on fundamental aspects of Catholic belief - the Incarnation, abortion, homosexuality etc etc. ??

    I didn't think so.

  6. I just finished watching "The Pianist" and watched "Karol" a few weeks ago. It is such gut-wrenching stuff and almost cripples me.

Please good people everywhere do not add one iota to this devilry of hatred and madness in any form. These people by saying such things, every time they say them, bring us a step closer to it all being repeated. Their sin has far reaching social consequences. Why is it that the church and the pope allowed this it happen brought it all out in the open again? Why? Why? Please stop it. Please.

"Williamson is a lone fool". So was Hitler at first. And he was a Catholic (in name) too. Please everyone, don't let us allow such people to speak especially when they come under the name of Catholic.

  7. As Catholics...let us not forget the thrice defined dogma of "No Salvation Outside the Catholic Church." So we must continue to pray for all our brothers, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, etc to find their to the One Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church....Outside of which there is No Salvation.

  8. Ive been with the sspx for 12 years and never heard any antisemitism towards the jews, only a prayer for conversion of all religions to recognize jesus as the one true God as he stated, 2nd person of the holy trinity.Stop the media lynch mob!

  9. I personally believe that some SSPX members are actually anti-semitic however, unlike modernistic and liberal Catholics I do not use this as an excuse not to permit them as a Society from being welcomed back within the Church.
Many people have prejudices of different kinds. I certainly have mine yet none are excommunicable.
The liberal/left alliance have their mantras against the SSPX and anti-semitism is not the real reason for their feigned outrage. Rather it is the orthodoxy on liturgy and sacraments and doctrinal teachings that they fear in these fellow Catholics albeit those with in schism either real or imagined by the liberal modernistic mindset. Left/liberals should stop being moral cowards and simply declare their hand instead of bleating on about anti-semitism.

  10. OYWT, the Pope did not "allow to happen" anything which any SSPX member has done or said. They have placed themselves outside the Pope's authority. The Pope has all his life made crystal clear his determination to stamp out anti-semitism.

It was the anti-Catholic mass media which "brought into the open" some old and obscure comments by Williamson and others and presented them as if they were today's news and endorsed by the Church.

  11. I wish I had a time machine and I could put all those people who deny or belittle the holocaust or who sprout anti-semitic sentiments and place them in the middle of the Warsaw Jewish ghettos during the war. Then I'd like to ask them what they think -if they live long enough. They should be made to sit down and view such movies as The Pianist, Karol, Schindler's List, The Hiding Place etc..

As Victor Frankl concluded: "There are only two races of people - good and evil".

  12. OYWT, Christ and His Church tell us there is only one race of people, the human race. And that we ALL are a mixture of good and evil (save only Christ and the BVM). But many try to deny the existence of the evil in themselves by demonising some other identifiable group they don't like, the Jews, the SSPX or whoever, and pretend that the target contains all the evil in man.

  13. Michael,

What do you understand by "no salvation outside the Catholic Church"?

Does this mean that only Roman Catholics are saved?

Do you not disagree with the Holy Spirit speaking to us through the Second Vatican Council?

Are you sure that you are saved?

  14. "we ALL are a mixture of good and evil".

Toushe (however you spell it) Ronk. I have always said (based on a Jewish saying) that we all have an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. Both whisper in our ears and we have to choose which one we listen to and obey.

It was also one of the themes behind Lord of the Rings - we all have the potential to allow ourselves to be taken over by the dark power (of the ring) unless we have a stronger core of a desire to follow Jesus. Better to not handle the ring in the first place. What worries me is that so many Catholics (commenting here and else where) seem to be handling the ring (of hatred and other anti-Christian qualities) without even realising it.

  15. You seem very confused Francis. The Second Vatican Council reaffirmed the unchangeable truth that there is no salvation outside the Church, and did not deny it (which would be impossible) as you seem to think.

This does NOT mean that all Catholics are saved LOL, as the fundamentalists claim for their denominations. Like St Paul, we are working out our salvation, running the race to the end with the help of Christ's Church and her sacraments, in the HOPE that we will be saved.

And please don't call us by the pejorative term "Roman Catholics". There is no such thing.

  16. “The Belgian site accuses Jews of "still believing they are the chosen people"”
To the best of my knowledge all branches of Judaism still teach this. This “accusation” is hardly an example of “the worst kind of anti-Semitism … worse than denying the Holocaust … spreading hatred against the Jewish people”.

  17. Shock, Horror, outrage.! what about some intellectual content based on some real research using insight and comprehension, particularly you Miriam from Canada .God and His Church is found in actual Truth which is not subjective Truth. If you seek you will find. Knock and it will be opened to you. The real issue here is your salvation and mine, don't be side tracked

  18. Ronk, you are confused as usual. When you say that the Second Vatican Council reaffirmed the unchangeable truth that there is no salvation outside the Church.....WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THE CHURCH?

    Is this only Roman catholics?

Are Protestants not saved? Read the catechism, particularly # 818, 819

I suspect that you are in heresy!

And, yes, if you are not an Eastern Rite Catholic nor an Orthodox member of the Catholic Church then you ARE a Roman Catholic (and a bigoted one at that! since you obviously believe that only Roman Catholics are saved)!

  19. Am I the odd one out? According to Scripture including the words of Jesus, the Jews are God's chosen people and we are their spiritual heirs -Children of Abraham.
Jesus in His Manhood was, is and always will be a Jew - Jew. Why then do people have a problem with honouring them because they are Christ's own tribe & family more closely related to Him than we are. How can a Christian revile them?
It's a great mercy and privilege that God has welcomed us Gentiles into the ranks of His Chosen People. We should have a special love for our sadly estranged spiritual brethren.
How can we judge, condemn and revile the race of people so closely related to our Lord and Master; who talk as if they would crucify them because we have not loved them enough thru the centuries to win them over to Christ's side!
    Let us concentrate on that.
As for salvation being found only in the (Roman Catholic) Church, who in God's view comprises that Church?

  20. Francis, you are extremely confused as usual. There is no such thing as a “Roman Catholic” so please stop calling us by that protestant insult.
The Catechism (at least the real one, not the one you’ve made up) certainly does not say “protestants are saved”. You throw around the word “heresy” with gay abandon, but clearly have no idea of its meaning.
Read my third comment again if you still can’t understand what Catholics believe about “who can be saved”. Your fundamentalist denomination may think that you have an assurance of salvation during your life, but Catholics deny this is possible. Perhaps this is the source of your confusion. May God and His Immaculate ever-virgin Mother bless you and help you to one day find the truth despite your present hatred of Christ’s Church.

Michael R, why do you think you're the odd one out? No commenter here has "judged, condemned and reviled" Jews as a people or expressed any "problem with honouring them". (Criticism of the policies of the Israeli Republic is NOT "reviling Jews" as a people. Many Jews also criticise it. )
