Keep vampires away with garlic and holy water, the belief goes, but keep Marilyn Manson away with fasting and prayer, Hungarian Christians are being urged.
Churchgoers in Sopron, a Hungarian town are being called to protest against the rocker who is scheduled to perform as one of the main acts at an upcoming four day music festival, Reuters reports.
"Protest against the concert of American satanist band Marilyn Manson in Sopron," placards around the church say in red and black capitals.
The action resulted following repeated calls by the local church for the act to be cancelled. Protesters fear the performance could incite hate against Christians and provide a platform to abuse the Church and sacraments.
"Therefore, we turn to all of our benevolent Christian brothers that they plead for those inciting hatred and for our misguided brothers with prayer and offering a fast," the placards say.
Manson, the flamboyant rocker whose hits include "Irresponsible Hate Anthem" and "Antichrist Superstar," will descend on the festival on Saturday and is expected to draw several thousand people, the report adds.
