Jessica Alba rejects screen nudity

Published: February 18, 2010

American actress Jessica Alba has vowed never to do onscreen nudity, citing the influence of her Catholic upbringing,

Alba admits she's happy to take on sexy roles and don revealing outfits in movies, but fans shouldn't ever expect her to bare all for the cameras, Canoe reports.

She told Britain's Scarlet magazine, "No, I'll never do a nude scene. I can act sexy and wear sexy clothes but I can't go naked. I think I was always very uncomfortable about the way my body developed, and I remember my grandmother would freak out and throw a towel over me if she saw me wearing just a bra and panties.

"I come from a very Catholic family so it wasn't seen as a good thing to flaunt yourself like that. I can handle being sexy with clothes on but not with them off."

  1. Thank God for some modesty left in some people in this oversexualized world. Will continue praying for you.

  2. I looked at this article because I thought it might be inspiring for my young girls, but no. Why can't girls understand that acting sexy and wearing sexy, flaunting clothes sends the wrong message anyway.
Let's face it, a lot of women's clothes these days leave nothing to the imagination anyway. A woman's body should be a sacred space, not nearly nude for the world to see. Perhaps Grandma was right!

  3. Good on her for taking this stance but really some of those bikinis she wears are not far from being naked. I'm not complaining though.

  4. Is it really 'news' that at least one actress will not parade naked for the public?
As for her reasons, 'I was always very uncomfortable about the way my body developed' sounds more like a personal psychological problem than genuine natural modesty, and much less like any Catholic influence.

  5. JP II covers this destructive, false sense of 'shame' about one's body very well in TOB.
Her confusion is common but testifies to the facts on secularism; its lies and the slavery to various sins it causes.
What is required is modesty for the right reasons, in recognition that when we behave well [as per the way we were designed to operate] our bodies are beautiful, to be treasured and admired as they reflect the image of God.
