1. The Beatles, like Elvis Presley, were undoubtedly a phenomenon and, to some degree, still are. Like Presley, they are vastly overrated. These 'rebels' were laughing their way to the bank after a couple of years. Sir Paul McCartney is now a typical wealthy British establishment figure.
   McCartney and John Lennon did write one or two reasonably good songs but not one of the Beatles had a decent voice. They, and Elvis Presley, have a certain nostalgic value.
