Justice Products was initiated by the Catholic Worker Community in 1985.

"The Catholic Worker Community, an "intentional community" in Brisbane, was founded on the principles of providing hospitality and refuge to the poorest people in the community, non-violent resistance, self-help and mutual aid," the site explains.

"The community pooled its resources and began cottage industries to support its activities, such as vegetable soap production, bread baking and bottling honey.
