1. I am bemused that Kristina Kenneally is described as a 'staunch Catholic' given her public comments and voting record diametrically opposed to Church teaching on some moral issues.
   And while I suppose one must take her comments on their face value, I wonder if her less favourable comments about Pope Benedict are the politician speaking - as Pontiff he did much to try to bring Church and civil leaders who identified as Catholic to actually be Catholic.
