Webby wins for Fraynework

Published: April 11, 2008

The Sisters of Mercy owned Fraynework Multimedia web design company has won Webby Awards - the Oscars of the World Wide Web - for two of its sites.

The company was named "official honoree" at the 12th annual Webby Awards, a Fraynework media release states.

The award was made by the New York based International Academy of Arts and Science, for work that scored in the top 15 percent of work submitted for the awards.

Nearly 10,000 entries were received from over 60 countries.

The work honoured was for websites for the Sisters of Mercy in Australia and for the Catholic Education Office in Melbourne.

Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honouring excellence on the Internet.

"The Webby Awards honours the outstanding work that is setting the standards for the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. "Fraynework's Official Honoree selection is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators."

Fraynework describes itself as a not for profit organization which engages in social justice transformation and education through the use of cutting edge digital communications.
