    The Treasures of Heaven exhibition, which has opened at the British Museum in London, has brought together more than 100 reliquaries, almost all of them magnificent examples of medieval goldsmiths’ work. Indeed, it is easy to imagine that when the silver reliquary foot of St Blaise (pictured) was placed on an altar it gripped the congregation’s attention, reports the Economist.

In Peru, a giant statue of Christ was blessed and in Medjugorje pilgrims flocked to the 30th anniversary of the Marian apparition (pictured).
