Born in Morocco, a young Philippe Barbarin was raised in a family of 11 children. He went on to study at the Sorbonne and the Catholic Institute of Paris before eventually becoming the Archbishop of Lyon. In 2003, he was appointed to the College of Cardinals at 53.

Claire O’Mara, an American Ursuline sister, spent her life dedicated to matters of social justice, and to the causes of the people of Mexico, Peru, and the Bronx. Moved by the murder of a sister Ursuline in El Salvador by US-trained graduates of the School of the Americas, Sr Claire turned protestor, and then after she was sentenced to prison for her part in a demonstration outside Fort Benning (location of the School of the Americas) she joined an admirable and elite band – prisoners of conscience.
