    Israeli archaeologists have recovered a seal containing the oldest mention of Bethlehem ever found. It dates back to 2,700 years old. “The Bible mentions Bethlehem. Now, this is proof that the city existed at the time,” declared Eli Shukron, archaeologist of Israel Antiquities Authority, reports Vatican Insider.

    When asked about the secret to a long life, Fr Wally Fingleton was to the point: ‘Keep breathing’ was his advice. It was typical of the humour of this Marist Father, who was proud to tell that story that once, when he was a journalist like his Test cricketer/writer brother, Jack, he was sacked by the formidable Consolidated Press boss, Frank Packer. But it was his innings as a missionary priest which saw Wally Fingleton best at the crease. The Sydney Morning Herald’s current cricketing writer, Greg Growden, paid tribute.

    “Did somebody famous die?” a passerby asked as police stopped traffic in central Sydney, near St Mary's Cathedral, to allow the funeral procession to proceed, reports The Catholic Weekly. Sydney urological surgeon and philanthropist Dr Glen Coorey wasn’t famous or a celebrity. He was much more important than that.
