  8. Death of the rosary crusader

    During World War II, Hugh Thwaites spent 42 months in the notorious Changai prison, captive of the Japanese. Despite the privations, these were the happiest three and half years of his life, he noted – it was at the beginning of this period that he converted from Anglicanism to Catholicism. Hugh Thwaites went on to join the Jesuits, and became known not only for his writing and teaching, but also for his staunch advocacy of the centrality of the Rosary in family life.
