  8. A champion and saviour for the young and in distress

    She was known at the Mother Theresa of America’s street kids, and then this Daughter of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, Sr Mary Rose McGeady, extended her mission to Central America. During her long life, she saved thousands of teens from homelessness, poverty and need, and set their feet on path to successful, whole, healed lives. Sr Mary Rose might have gone to her eternal reward, but those she loved on earth are still reaping the benefits of her caring soul.  Dennis Hevesi  wrote this obituary for The New York Times.
