Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Mission Leader with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care.

The position involves working as a member of the St Joseph’s Hospital, Auburn management team, and in collaboration with the Director of Mission for St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney to lead the integration of the healing ministry of Jesus and the mission of Mary Aikenhead into the culture and activities of the hospital.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
  • Hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant field(s) such as pastoral care, theology, ministry, education or healthcare
  • Have leadership experience in a Catholic context
  • Have experience in facilitating Mission Formation or other adult education processes
  • Demonstrate a commitment to social justice and people who are poor and vulnerable
  • Understand organisational dynamics and the ways in which leaders are able to influence culture in a positive manner
  • Be experienced in managing staff and volunteers
  • Have a demonstrated capacity to support people who are suffering
